DOMINION TOURNEY GLADING SPRAINS ANKLE LITTLE PRACTICE SECURED The New Zealand open, amateur and professional golf championships will open at the Miramar Golf Club’s links, Wellington, to-morrow. The only Hamiltonians competing are R. H. Galding in the open and amateur and G. W. Melvin in the open and professional titles. Glading, who was playing excellent golf before leaving for Wellington, has unfortunately not been able to indulge in much practice owing to a sprained ankle. He started off well and his second round on the course produced a 75, one over bogey figures. He then sprained his ankle and has not played since. Yesterday he thought his ankle had sufficiently healed and commenced another round, but had to stop after a couple of holes. He will, therefore, not practice to-day unless the ankle has made rapid improvement and this may affect his excellent chances. A portion of the Miramar course has been taken over in the work of extending the Wellington aerodrome and a few alterations have been made. It is contenied that the changes have not affected the course materially, the total length of which is now 6237 yards with a bogey of 74.
