OFFICERS ENCAMP
TRAINING COURSE SECOND ECHELON DRAFT MEN FROM No. 4 DISTRICT Officers who have been appointed to the second echelon of the New Zealand Forces entered camp to-day for a special training course preparatory to taking over duties when the second draft of men is called up. In the meantime there has been no indication of the date for the mobilisation of the men other than the intimation given by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, that the volunteers would not be called up before the second week in December. Officers from the No. 4 military area have encamped at Hopu Hopu, Narrow Neck and Trentham. Second-Lieutenants L. G. Williams and F. T. Nolan, of the Second Medium Battery of the New Zealand Artillery, Hamilton, encamped at Hopu Hopu to-day with the Field Regiment of the New Zealand Artillery* , „ Lieutenant F. Baker, Reserve of Officers of the Waikato Mounted Rifles Regiment, encamped at Narrow Neck with the Divisional Cavalry Regiment. Captain G. J. Howcroft, M.C., formerly of the Buffs (Devon) Regiment of the Imperial Army, joined the officers to undergo the course at Narrow Neck for the infantry battalion. Other officers from the area for the same course were chosen from the Waikato Regiment. They are as follows: Captain J. H. Searle, Lieutenants R. B. McClymont, A. G. Simms, lA. G. Turtill, and Second-Lieuten-ant R. Penny. | Lieutenant C. A. Bowman, of the Waikato Regiment, left Hamilton last night for Trentham, where he reported to-day with the Divisional Signal*.
