NGAHINAPOURI BRANCH The October meeting of the Ngahinapouri branch of the Women’s Division was held in the Ngahinapouri Hall recently, Mrs Newdick presiding. The meeting was very brief as it was the eighth birthday party of the branch. charge of Miss Benton, gave two items, which were enthusiastically received. The flower competitions resulted as follows;—Single prize bloom, Mrs Fitness; three vases, Mrs Fitnea*; decorative bowl, Mrs B. Newdick. At the conclusion of the programme afternoon tea was served by the branch. The candles on the beautiful birthday cake were lit by Mrs Godfrey, Women’s Division organiaei for South Auckland, and blown out by Mrs Newdick, president, and the cake was cut by Mrs Clements, provincial president for South Auckland.
Letters and messages of birthday greetings were received from many of the branches, and a pretty ornament was presented to the branch from the Ohaupo Women's Institute. Mr McWhannell gave an interesting talk and demon; tration on dahlia culture, as well as hints on layering carnation slips, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The Christmas gift competition, which was won by Miss Thelma Stringer, brought many entries.
