Tragic Coincidence By tragic coincidence the father of Mr H. L. Hume, who was engineer in charge of the Plimmerton-Pae-kakariki coastal road till he went abroad on an international engineering scholarship, died on Saturday, when he was to have attended the official opening of the road. Part of the opening ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative tablet on which was inscribed the name of Mr H. L. Hume, along with that of the Minister of Public Works, the chief engineer and the district engineer. Thus death robbed Mr Hume’s father of what would have been a proud moment.
