(Received Nov. 7, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Nov. 6 A French official communique this morning states: “There was local artillery activity at several points on the front.” To-night’s French official communique states that there was great activity by aviation on both sides. During a violent fight nine French fighters attacked a group of 27 German fighters. Nine of the latter were brought down, of which seven fell within our territory. Every one of our planes engaged in this encounter returned safely. PARIS, Nov. 6 An official radio states that the Germans, reconnaissing in the Yosges sector, captured a French outpost. Later they were beaten off with hand grenades. The French also prevented a German attempt to capture a small island in the Rhine in boats. German planes flew over the Allied lines once, but the French penetrated Germany territory more deeply.
