MINERS’ RELIEF FUND

FAMILIES OF VICTIMS BAND CONCERT AT HUNTLY To assist the Mayor of Huntly’s relief fund for the families of the 11 victims erf the Glen Afton mine disaster, a concert was held in the Town Hall, Huntly, on Sunday night. It was organised by Mrs S. W. Tallis, of Hamilton, who arranged a comprehensive and enjoyable programme, featuring the Hamilton Citizens’ Band, under the baton of Mr F. Kear. In addition to several numbers by the band, the following programme was presented:—Songs, Mr Keith Priscott; flute solo, Mr Hal. McLennan; instrumental item. Miss T. Molesworth (piano accordion) and Mr J. Ball (banjo mandolin), song, Miss Anna McLennan; specialty dance. Gunner T. Barnett; song, Miss M. Whittaker; ’cello solo, Miss Yvonne McLachlan; dance, Miss Kyra .Forsythe; illuminated drumstick exhibition, Mr G. Moss; flute solo, Mr Hal. McLennan; song, Miss Anna McLennan; novelty item, Mr G. Moffat; conjuring, Mr R. Harris. The accompanists were Mrs Tallis and Mr W. Harrison. The Mayor of Huntly, Mr C. E. George, thanked the concert party and all who had contributed toward the entertainment, especially Mrs Tallis. After the concert he entertained the artists and the band to supper.
