diggers at play RETURNED SOLDIERS’ DAY One of the major features of the activities of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the annual diggers’ golf tournament, which was held at St. Andrews yesterday, was an outstanding success. There were 80 competitors, and some very keen golf was played. The competitions resulted as follows: — Senior championship: W. C. Wynne, 148. Runner up, J. Wooller 153. Junior Championship: G. B. Evans 169. Runner-up, J. Hooper 169. Senior Nett, 36 holes: H. Toombs 132, P. G. Russell 132. Junior nett, 36 holes: S. L. Paterson 135, J. Anderson 138. Morning senior medal: L. Ansell. morning junior medal: A. E. McCracken. Senior Stableford bogey: R. Donoghue. Junior Stableford bogey: H. Robertson. Morning awkward squad: J. S. Allan. Afternoon awkward squad: W. Limmer. The teams match was won by the rifle brigade (J. Beehan, A. E. McCracken, J. Anderson, R. B. Hart) with a score of 271. BOLGER BEATS VON LIDA (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tei. moyrtirhti SYDNEY, Nov. 5 The New South Wales professional golf championship was won yesterday by W. Bolger, who beat von Nida in the final, 5 and 4.
