OKOROIRE NEWS
BOWLING CLUB OPENING (Special to Times) OKOROIRE, Thursday. At the official opening of the Okoroire Bowling Club there were about 80 present, including visitors from Cambridge, Arapuni, Matamata, Walton, Leamington, Tirau, Hinuera and Putaruru. The opening ceremony was performed by the patron, Mr N. L. Higginson, who welcomed the visitors,‘and Mrs Higginson sent down the first bowl. Afternoon t_> was served by the Okoroire bowlers. FAREWELL FUNCTION MAJOR G. WILDING The presentation of a pipe and a ; leather tobacco pouch was made, on ■ behalf of men members of the Okoi roire Golf Club,'to Major G. Wilding, ' prior to his departure for camp. The presentation was made in the clubI house by the president, Mr F. J. K- ■ Goodwin, who said that Major \\ ilding would carry with him the good • wishes of many friends. Major , Wilding suitably replied. ’ TIRAU TENNIS (Special to Times) TIRAU, Thursday. A “Yankee” tournament was conducted by the Tirau Tennis Club, the winners being Miss A. Peter Sen, o Okoroire, and A. F. Brown. The weather was ideal for tennis, and several visitors from other clubs , were present.
