THE WORLD OF MUSIC
Former Hamiltonians in Melbourne Spending a holiday in her native Melbourne after twelve years in Auckland, New Zealand, Mrs Edwin Ross Greenfield, known professionally as Isobel Langlands, will shortly be heard in recitals, says a Melbourne paper. Accompanying her on her holiday are her two talented little daughters, Pamela and Jasmine. Pamela, now 10 years of age, has had a great future predicted for her by Professor Heinze, Mr Thorold Waters and Mr Harold Elvins, who have heard her original compositions. Pamela combines the three arts—music, poetry and sketching—and with her sister, one year younger, has been broadcasting, presenting her own compositions on the piano, which Jasmine sings. Famous Tenor Called to Army Jan Kiepura, the Polish opera and film star, was called to the colours in Poland. His wife, Marta Eggerth, accompanied him on his return. N.Z. Musician’s Romance Musical people will be interested in the engagement in Christchurch of Mr Noel Newson, one of the most popular pianists New Zealand has so far produced. His fiancee, Miss Patricia Moore, only daughter of Mr and Mrs K. Moore, is also musical, plays the piano well and holds the degree of L.R.S.M. in singing. Mr Newson spent some years studying in England as holder of a scholarship, and has toured New Zealand as official accompanist for several visiting artists.
