HALLOWE’EN DANCE
TIRAU PLUNKET SOCIETY The rites of Hallowe’en were duly observed at the Tirau Public Hall, recently, when members of the Tirau Plunket Society held a Hallowe’en dance, which was attended by over 500 people. Eerie ghosts, goblins, and owls, bats, cats and other creatures of the night presented a weird sight to the arriving guests. The dance was arranged almost entirely by the recently formed branch cf the Plunket Society, and its success reflects much credit on the organisers. A feature of the programme was a ballet by the pupils of Miss Joan Urquhart. Mrs J. Corcoran played the accompaniments. During the evening novelty waltzes were won by Mr Aikman and Miss Evansa, and Miss Dorrie Murphy and Mr C. Mirfin. Competitions were won by Miss Dorothy Amoore and Mrs Newson, of Matamata. Music was supplied by Syd Strange’s band, from Te Awamutu, and Mr N. Wilson was in charge of the floor arrangements. Members of the committee respon-
