CAMBRIDGE NOTES
CAKD EVENING ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BENEFIT The Town Queen committee of the queen carnival at Cambridge which, owing to the war, has been abandoned, held a final function on Tuesday evening when the proceeds were donated to' the St. John Ambulance Association. A large number attended at the parish hall, bridge, five hundred or mah jongg being played. The deputy-mayor, Mr A. H. Nicoll, before presenting the prizes, congratulated the committee on the success of the function which had been arranged on behalf of such a worthy cause. Prize-winners were Dr. H. C. Tod (contract), Mrs O. Gane (auction), Mrs A. C. Wallis (five hundred), and Miss Mary Turney (mah jongg). Among those present were:—Mesdames H. L. Nixon, W. Munroe, G. G. L. Taylor, F. Ray, W. O. GUILD AFTERNOON An enjoyable social afternoon was held by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild at the home of Mrs A. W. Gane, at , Cambridge, last week. L Several interesting competitions ' w ere arranged, the winners being Mrs S. Hall, Mrs T. Cummack, and Miss F. Hooker. Items were given by Mrs T. Cummack, Mrs E. B. Kemsley, Mrs S. Hall, Miss Joan Blackman, Miss M. Cummack, and Miss Laurel Easter. Those present were:—Mesdames G. H. Goodman, G. Simpson, J. Arnold, T Cummack, E. Vale, Carter, R. J. Melville, W. H. Hall. C. W.
