TURKEY’S AIMS
LEADER’S STATEMENT superpose OF THE PACT NO MENACE TO OTHERS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlg&t) ANKARA, November 1 | “Turkey’s pact with Britain and I France is not directed at any other I State and will only operate if some State seeks to trample on our lawful aspirations,” declared M. Ineonu (the Prime Minister), in opening the sixteenth session of Parliament. “Its purpose is to assure Turkey’s security, serve peace and international security at least in the zone in which our influence can be exercised. We are endeavouring to create a region of security, and prevent an extension of the horrors of war. Our bonds with the Allies, and our common ideals with them do not disturb our normal friendly relations with other States. We sincerely desire to keep out from the zone of war, provided our security is not compromied, or our undertakings are not violated.”
