FLOWERDAY CUP CONTEST AYLESBURY DEFEAT ELSTOW (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Thursday. The first match of the season, for the Flowerday Cup, was played between Aylesbury and Elstow, the former winning by 8 sets to 4. Following are tlie results, Aylesbury players being mentioned first:— Women’s doubles, Miss Joyce Flowerday and Mrs Larsen defeated Misses E. Blackford and D. Nicol, 7—7; Misses Joan and Phyllis Flowerday defeated Miss' P. Blackford and Mrs Davey, 7—6; Miss M. Flowerday and Mrs Leopold lost to Mesdames Chalton and Stewart, 5—7. Men’s doubles, B. Darroch and L. Lavison defeated A. Dabb and R. Chalton, 7—5; V. Flowerday and E. Leopold lost to A. Stewart and - McWilliams, o—7; A. Conning and D. Lee defeated E. Nicol and F. Allan, 7—4. Combined doubles, L. Lavison and Miss Joyce Flowerday defeated A. Dabb and Mrs E. Blackford, 5—7; V. Flowerday and Mrs Larsen defeated R. Chalton and" Miss D. Nicol, 7—5; B. Nicol and Mrs Chalton, 7—4; A. Conning and Mrs Leopold defeated T. Allen and Mrs Stewart, 7—5. TAOTAOROA CLUB NEW COURTS OPENED (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE. Thursday. The Taotaoroa Tenuis Club’s new courts are open for play. The club members have completed laying down two hard-surfaced courts on Mr N. Jack’s property as a district Centennial commemmoruilon. When the courts were declared open, Mr R. Robson, the president, thanked all who had subscribed the funds, and especially to Mr Jack for the ground.
