The first match of the season, for the Flowerday Cup, was played between Aylesbury and Elstow, the former winning by 8 sets to 4. Darroch and L. Lavison defeated A. Dabb and R. Chalton, 7—5; V. Flowerday and E. Leopold lost to A. Stewart and - McWilliams, o—7; A. Conning and D. Lee defeated E. Nicol and F. Allan, 7—4. The Taotaoroa Tenuis Club’s new courts are open for play. The club members have completed laying down two hard-surfaced courts on Mr N. Jack’s property as a district Centennial commemmoruilon. When the courts were declared open, Mr R. Robson, the president, thanked all who had subscribed the funds, and especially to Mr Jack for the ground.
