WIN BY ONE RUN FRONTIER ROAD AND PUAHUE (Special to Times) TE AWAMITU, Wednesday. In the Country Association competition, Puahue and Frontier Road had a dose contest last Saturday, the latter winning by 1 run. After being six runs down on the first innings, the home side was carried to victory mainly through an unbeaten 37 by Askew. Cutforth rendered useful service for 14 runs, but only four others opened their accounts.
Atherton (12) and Lettan (18) were the main scorers in Puahue’s first knock or 39. R. Wyllie took five for 13 and Askew three lor 12. In the second innings, Atherton with 16 and Spiers with 11 were the principal contributors to the total or 01. Wyllie (four ror 25) and Price (Tour Tor 15) bowled best. Frontier Road’s first innings totalled 3 3 runs, to which Askew (11) and Price (12) were the main contributors. Southey took seven for 12. The second innings was a fight for runs, and despite great bowling by Southey (eight for 24), Frontier Road managed the 68 necessary for a win.
