ROTARY CONFERENCE
GOVERNOR’S OBSERVATIONS ADDRESS TO HAMILTON CLUB The wonderful organisation attached to the Rotary Conference at Cleveland, United States of America, which he attended last July, was referred to by Mr D. Ewen, of Wellington, district governor of Rotary, speaking to the Hamilton Rotary Club last night. At the conference there were over 10,000 registered Rotarians and their wives. Mr Ewen visited the Rotary International, at Chicago, where he was able to make interesting contacts with members from all over the world. At the headquarters there was a staff of about 125 persons. Correspondence in 19 different languages was dealt with, while over 40 countries were represented. Friendship and fellowship were the keystones of the Rotary movement. The Rotary Club in Jerusalem was the only place where a Christian, a Jew and an Arab would sit down together in amity. The club had been in existence for 10 years and in all that time had missed holding only one meeting.
