ATTACK ON GERMAN WARSHIPS FACE HEAVY FIRE AT LOW ALTITUDE ENEMY ALLEGES FIVE PLANES SHOT DOWN . (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 30, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 29 A Ministry of Information communique states that units of the Royal Air Force carried out attacks today on ships of the German fleet in the Heligoland Bight. Despite formidable anti-aircraft fire they pressed home their attacks at a low altitude. Some of our aircraft have not yet returned. BERLIN, Sept. 29 It is officially stated that six British planes, after attacking without success, flew away to the west. The German fighters intercepted them, shooting down five machines after a short air battle.
