CAY CARDENS

THE LOVING HANDS These lawns and paths so neatly trim, With edges straight and true, Were not grown by gardeners Who just admired the view. But hands there were that dug the ground And scattered seeds to sow, Or pulled the weeds from tiny plants To help those seedlings grow. And eager fingers tied the stems To hold the winds at bay, Or fixed a shelter for the leaves To keep the frosts away. For gardens fair with tidy paths Need rain as well as sun, And gardeners’ hands must tend the blooms When Nature’s work is done.
