BLOW TO GERMANY VICTORIES FOR RUSSIA LONDON, Sept. 29 The Times says there is no reason to believe that the Russo-German Pact will seriously change the situation, especially in view of M. Maisky’s assurances that the Soviet is maintaining neutrality. The Russo-German agreement leaves a great majority of the Poles to Germany, which has sustained a diplomatic reverse in the Baltic. Baltic observers say that Germany 8 bloodless victories have ceased, and Hitler and von Ribbentrop are now scoring them for M, Stalin. EVACUATION SCHEME EXTENSION IN BRITAIN LONDON, Sept. 29 The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Labour announced to-day that the Government’s evacuation scheme is to be extended to children between 2 and 5 years of age who will be billeted without their mothers on tho same terms as the older children. ■ ■Wo hope to form groups of them at the evacuation centres," he said, "and place them together in houses which „ thP lines of nursery are run on me schools.” MADAME PILSUDSKI ARRIVAL IN ENGLAND LONDON, Sept. 29 Madame Pilsudski, widow of the late Polish Marshal Pilsudski, and her two daughters arrived in England today. MANUFACTURE OF SHELLS INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, Sept. 30 A press report states that the Australian Development Minister announced that in order to meet the requirements of Australia and assist other Empire countries the manufacture of shells is to be increased 100 per cent, and the output of three types of machine-guns will also be increased.
