FIRST ACCEPTANCES FIELD OF 43 REMAINS IN METROPOLITAN ENTRIES (Special to Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday First acceptances for the New Zealand Cup and entries for other important events at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting, to be held at Riccarton on November 4,6, 8 and 11, closed this evening. No fewer than 43 horses remain in the New Zealand Cup, compared with 31 after the first acceptances last year, and the entries for the other races total 287, against 288 last year. A surprise defection from the cup was The Cardinal, who was not nominated for any of the other races.
