FIGHTS IN AIR
MACHINES SHOT DOWN 8 GERMAN, 4 FRENCH BRITISH AIRMEN ENGAGED (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 28 According to a French report today, the Royal Air Force co-oper-ated with the French Air Force yesterday afternoon in an engagement and brought down several enemy fighters. During the night there was activity by reconnaissance aeroplanes, one of the fights being described by a correspondent in to-day’s Petit Parisien. In one fight, he said, five French aircraft attacked nine German machines. Five German machines were brought down, while two French aeroplanes were lost. In another fight three French aircraft were engaged by five Germans. Three German machines were shot down and one of the French aeroplanes was brought down. The remainder were engaged in battle, and one on each side returned to its respective base. This makes the loss eight German machines and four French.
