Mr Ormond Wilson, formerly M.P. for Rangitikei, returned to London in August, after a visit to Russia. Sir George Shirtcliffe, accompanied by Lady Shirtcliffe, has returned to New Zealand, after a seven weeks’ holiday visit to New Guinea. Major-General Sir John Davidson has been appointed deputy-chairman of Dalgety and Company, Limited, according to advice received from London. Mr G. Mortlock, of Christchurch, was re-appointed representative of the Waikato Cricket Association on the New Zealand Cricket Council at the annual meeting of the association last night. Messrs C. G. Hunt, chairman of the management committee, and K. L. Sandford, secretary, were thanked for their services to the Waikato Cricket Association at the annual meeting last night. Mr Hunt was reelected chairman at a meeting of the management committee held later in the evening. Lieutenant-Colonel G. T. Hall, C.M.G., C.8.E., has been presented by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association with a certificate “in grateful recognition of outstanding service rendered for the benefit of ex-servicemen generally,” and his name has been placed on the association’s special honours list. Mr E. C. Sare, formerly manager of the Hamilton branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who has been appointed inspector in Wellington, was presented with a sports “carry-all” by the accountant, Mr W. R. Cole, on behalf of the bank staff yesterday. A welcome was also extended to Mr A. A. Edwards, the new manager. Mr Sare left by car for Wellington this morning.
