RECRUITS SELECTED TO ENCAMP NEXT WEEK DRAFT FROM HAMILTON AREA Although there is at present intense activity at the Hopu Hopu camp as the preparation of New Zealand’s first military force gets under way, the real task of training men will not begin till next week, when the recruits will be drafted in large numbers. Officers and non-commis-sioned officers at present undergoing a course of instruction at Hopu Hopu will soon be in a position to hand on to the privates of the line instruction in the latest British Army methods of warfare. Next Tuesday a big draft for the Rifle Battalion will go into camp. On Wednesday night by special train which leaves Frankton Junction at 10.20 p.m., machine-gunners from the No. 4 military area, who have been drafted to Burnham for training, will leave for the south. For Trentham On Tuesday night members of the Headquarters Infantry Brigade will entrain for Trentham. On Thursday the Divisional Cavalry draft will encamp at Hopu Hopu, and on Friday men detailed to the Divisional Ammunition Column and the Reserve Motor Transport Company will go to Hopu Hopu. Men are warned that they are not allowed to carry suit cases to the camp. They should carry their gear to the point of the parade in sugar bags or paper parcels. On arrival at camp they will receive kit bags. The list of men drafted to the various units has now been completed.
