MATAMATA YARDING The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited, report that at their fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday a full yarding of cow beef sold readily and fully maintained late rates. An average yarding of boner cows was penned and prices remained steady, whilst empty 2-year old and yearling neifers sold well under keen competition. Dairy cattle: The usual yarding of dairy cattle, but few good quality sorts were penned with quotations for all classes showing little alteration. Sheep: A medium yarding which met steady competition, a total clearance being effected. Values for fat ewes were easier than last sale, although hoggets showed no variation. Pigs: A full yarding of all classes. Competition for baconers and porkers was again very keen and values fully up to recent quotations. In the store section bidding was very brisk from a full bench of buyers and prices considerably in advance of the late rates. The whole entry changed hands under the hammer. Choppers were also in keen demand and sold at satisfactory values. Quotations. —Cattle: Heavy fat Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, £7 5s to £8 7s 6d; Light fat Jersey cows, £5 5s to £6 12s 6d; fresh conditioned, £4 7s to £5 2s 6d; heavy baconers, £3 5s to £4; medium, £2 8s to £3; store cows, 35s to £2 ss; best yearling heifers, £5 to £5 15s; good yearling heifers, £4 to £4 17s 6d; poorer, £2 15s to £3 10s; heavy potter bulls, to £l2; others, to £5 12s 6d.

Pigs: Heavy choppers, £3 8s to £3 15s; others, 29s to £2 15s; heavy baconers, £3 18s to £4; medium, £3 12s to £3 16s; light, £3 4s to £3 10s; buttermilk pigs and heavy porkers, £2 16s to £3 2s; medium porkers, £2 9s to £2 14s; light, £2 to £2 7s; good quality large stores, £2 to £2 5s 6d; large stores, 35s 6d to 38s 6d; medium stores, 28s 6d tq, 335; good slips, 30s to 35s 6d; other slips, 24s to 28s 6d; best weaners, 23s to 28s 6d; others, 14s to 21s; sows with litters, up to £7 10s. SALE AT TAPU The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held a successful sale at Tapu on Wednesday, when a fair yarding of cattle was submitted before a good attendance of outside buyers. Bidding was very brisk, and a total clearance resulted with values in excess of expectation. They quote: Cattle: 3-year R.P. steers, £8 15s to £8 18s; smaller, £8 ss; 3-year Friesian steers, £8; 2-year Shorthorn cross steers, £6 10s to £6 12s 6d; 2year mixed coloured steers, £4 to £4 17s 6d; 2-year P.A. steers, £5 Is; 2year Friesian steers, £4 12s 6d to £4 17s 6d; yearling Shorthorn cross steers, £3 to £3 10s: 2-year Jersey heifers, backward, £5 15s; Jersey dairy cows, close to profit, £7 15s; small Jersey yearling heifers, £2 7s 6d; sound, 2-year R.P. bulls, £6 to £6 15s; 3-year P.A. bulls, £5 2s 6d to £5 15s.
Sheep: Forward conditioned 4tooth shorn wethers, 18s lid.
