CHEERIER HEARTHS

No doubt, during the spring cleaning, you’ve wished something could be done about the dull-tiled hearth unless yours is one of the new houses. Stone hearths used to be whitened and are now usually blackleaded, but a better, modern way is to transform them with a special cream polish to make them a bright polished red. Any grey stone, dull tile or brick will take the “treatment” but a blacklead surface must be first scrubbed to have a clean base for the polish. The same red cream is very good for cleaning and polishing red linoleum which has faded and it is a real beauty treatment for a lino which imitates red bricks.
