NAZIS UNEASY
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WAR GERMAN “WHITE BOOK” MORE HITLER UNTRUTHS (Official Wireless) (Received Set. 27, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 26 The publication of a German “White Book,” following closely on the British publication of all official documents relating to the events leading to the outbreak of war, is interpreted here as an indication of some uneasiness by Nazi circles. The Daily Telegraph suggests that Hitler has been acclaimed “by nature as an artist, not a politician,” but in this picture is found what it leaves out.
Unable to challenge the accuracy of the British report, the Nazis are endeavouring to counter it with a “half or quarter truth.” It must be very grievous to Dr. Goebbels that the truth has had a start.
The object of the White Book is to make it appear that Britain was responsible for the war. 1 - It is necessary, therefore, to make a case on the basis that the British guarantee was given before Poland refused to submit to the Nazi demands. The facts are, as already repeatedly stated, that Hitler made his demands on March 21, while the assurance of Franco-British support was not announced until March 31.
