HOTEL DESTROYED
FIRE AWAKENS GUESTS NO WATER AVAILABLE (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Wednesday The Hot Sprites Hotel, at Waiwera, was destroyed by fire at 12.30 a.m. to-day. The building, an old wooden two-storey structure, was quickly razed, there being no water available. The fire was first seen by a resident living about 50 yards from the hotel, and he rushed in and aroused the staff. Two guests sleeping in the upper story, were awakened by the roar of the flames, and descended by the fire escape. Only a few personal belonging were salvaged.
THREE SHOPS BURNT
FIRE IN WAIMATE (By Toleg-rapli.—Press Association) WAIMATE, Tuesday Three shops were damaged by a fire which broke out about 8.30 o'clock last night. The news agency and book shop of John Bowron, Limited, was completely burned out, while the roof and ceiling of Jones and Son’s butchery and the ceiling of T. McPherson’s shoe store were damaged.
