PRINCESS ELIZABETH
POSSESSES DRAMATIC TALENT One of the many qualities which Princess Elizabeth has inherited from her grandmother, Queen Mary, is a very pronounced dramatic flair. Everyone knows that the QueenMother is a most enthusiastic theatregoer, but very few realise that she has always been able to mimic any kind of voice with complete ease. As a girl, Queen Mary took leading parts in the elaborate charades staged at Windsor Castle for Queen Victoria’s entertainment and played in many amateur Shakespearian performances too.
Some visitors, going along the wide crimson-carpeted corridor connecting Ihe private suites at Buckingham Palace the other morning, were suddenly startled to hear a clear, young vojee announcing that: “The quality of mercy is not strained.” It was Princess Elizabeth having a dramatic lesson! The Queen has allowed her to tudy both Shakespeare and the French classical drama since her hirteenth birthday last April and the .leiress to the throne has revealed lerself as a decidedly talented young ictress. She thoroughly enjoys Iressing up in the medieval pink jrocade gown which was made for ler when she went to Lady Astor’s Jancy dress children’s party last winter, and sweeps up and down the Queen’s drawing-room, reciting to a amily audience.
To clean a light-coloured fur, rst shake it well to remove any urface dust, then warm a small uantity of powdered magnesia and ub it well in. Leave it for an hour jr so and then shake out the maglesia and beat the fur with a light ane. Dark fur can be treated in the ,ame way but, instead of the magnesia, use warm bran. All furs should be brushed and combed regularly to keep them in good condition.
