SAME FIGHTING SPIRIT
BRITISH TROOPS IN FRANCE GERMAN LEADERS HAVE LONG CONFERENCE INVASION OF BELGIUM OR HOLLAND POSSIBLE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 26, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 25 A military observer attached to the field force in France sums up the impression made by the British troops as follows: — “We have an army lacking nothing of the fighting spirit of those described in earlier days as ‘contemptible.’ It is impossible to encounter them without feeling pride and confidence that the army will acquit itself with honour. ’ PARIS, Sept. 25 M. Millerand, who was War Minister in 1914, says he is completely confident, as France stood alone in 1914, whereas to-day Britain is quite ready. The Paris Soir states that a long conference was held between Herr Hitler, Field Marshal Goering and Herr von Ribbentrop. It was reported that the German planes in the eastern centres needed repairs and overhaul. Herr von Ribbentrop is most impatient and favours an offensive through Belgium and Holland. BERLIN, Sept. 25 The Official German News Agency says suggestions that Germany is planning an advance through * Belgium and Holland are a flagrant falsification, and are bound to give rise to the suspicion that such intentions exist in the enemy’s camp and a pretext is merely sought to carry them out.
