TITLE RETAINED
EMPIRE WRESTLING McCREADY DEFEATS PINDER (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Tuesday The British Empire wrestling champion, Earl McCready, was fully extended in retaining his title against a challenge from Prince Bhu Pinder at the Town Hall last night. For the greater part of the contest McCready had difficulty in coping with the elusive Indian, and it was only in the seventh round, when he resorted to fore-arm jolts, that he subdued Pinder sufficiently to take the only fall of the match. This was the Ijidian’s first defeat in New Zealand. Pinder always had an eye for his specialty, the Indian crab, but McCready was on the alert and quickly rolled clear whenever danger threatened. Lifted over the ropes three times and dropped heavily on the staging in the seventh round, McCready returned to the ring and forced the Indian to retreat under a barrage of jolts. Pinder was lifted in a dump, but struggled free when the Canadian went for a press. However, dazed by further jolts and two more dumps, Pinder succumbed.
