TOWN IN FLAMES

GERMAN’S BEAUTIFUL PICTURE SAD PLIGHT OF WARSAW (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 23 The Berlin official wireless says a German pilot participating in the bombing of Lwow saw the whole town enveloped in fire and smoke—a more beautiful picture than he had ever conceived possible. “I had the good luck to see the railway station and several trains blown up and scattered in all directions,” said the pilot. Arrivals in Berlin, describing Warsaw’s ordeal, say the dead are being buried in the city’s squares. The inhabitants are suffering from the food shortage and typhoid fever. The Moscow radio announced that all forces mobilised since September 7 will remain with the colours until further notice, owing to “external conditions.”
