CHILD DROWNED

FALL INTO DRAIN (Special to Times) THAMES, Monday Robert John, the 20-months-old child of Mr and Mrs Lionel Berney, of Waitakaruru, Hauraki Plains, fell into a drain on Saturday evening and was drowned. SLIPPED INTO TANK MILK ROUNDSMAN DROWNED (Special to Times) GISBORNE, Sunday Mr Francis Lionel Samson, aged 21, single, engaged on a milk run, was found drowned at Mangapara on Saturday morning. He rose at 2.30 a.m. to get milk which was stood in cans in an iron tank of water overnight, ready for delivery. It is thought that while lifting a can he slipped and was stunned, for when found his head was below the water, which was only 16 inches deep.
