GOOD HARVEST

CONDITIONS IN GERMANY RATIONING OF FOOD (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) BERLIN, Sept. 23 The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the grain harvest was one of the best in the country’s history, being 27,400,000 tons, which is 500,000 tons more than in 1938. A million tons can be hoarded. The situation regarding meat, eggs and fat is not so favourable, but it is claimed that the rationing system beginning on Monday will provide a sufficiency, while potatoes are plentiful and are not being rationed. Individual certificates for each item of food will be issued instead of one certificate for all foods.
