PETROL RATIONS
COUPONS FOR LIGHT TRUCKS LAUNCHES REQUIRE LICENCE (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Sunday Following the announcement by the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, of the intention to make limited quantities of motor spirit available to owners of certain types of light trucks and also for pleasure launches, the Oil Fuel Controller has issued details of this extension of the rationing scheme. While the coupon system will operate in respect Jco light trucks used for pleasure purposes, launches will be subject to the licence system. Heavy trucks to which H-plates have been assigned will not be issued with coupons unless their owners can advance very good reasons why these should be supplied. Coupons will not be issued indiscriminately to owners of light trucks, but each application will be considered sympathetically on its merits. Applications by owners of pleasure launches must be made on the usual form. Owners will be required to indicate the period during which their craft will be used for pleasure running. The Controller has defined the maximum monthly issues that may be granted to launches of specified sizes. Holders of licences for aommercial vehicles should understand that it is not incumbent on them to purchase the full quantities permitted unless actually required for consumption. Failure to use the full quantities in a particular month will not jeopardise the issue of further licences without reduction.
