RED CROSS SOCIETY
CAMBRIDGE ACTIVITIES (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. A largely-attended meeting- or the Cambridge branch o!' Hie Red Cross and a number or the public, with the Mayor, Mr Edgar James presiding, dealt with various matters or war emergency. Tlie Mayor congratulated the branch on its initiative, but said at present he bad practically no information to give them, except a statement outlining the Government's attitude in regard to war funds, it was clear that the Government would control all arrangements and until instructions were received nothing could be gained by calling a public meeting. However, the Government’s policy did not prevent the Red Cross from raising funds in its normal manner. The meeting discussed various matters of consolidating committees, co-opting the leading public citizens, training in firstaid and many other suggestions. Mrs C. \Y. Clark, the. branch president, stated that 15 candidates had recently passed their home nursing examinations and fresh classes were started each week. The following committee was set tip to handle the arrangements for a Red Cross depot for receiving goods, etc.:—Mesdames R. Whitley, D. R. Lochead, L. Short, W. R. Shaw, C. M. Nicholson, R. Neely, 11. I). Dallimore, S. D. Low, J. Graham, P. Craig. I. D. Woodroffe. A. W. Sayers, W. R. Edwards, J. W. Wakefield; Misses M. Massey, M. Johnson and G. L. Brann (convener).
