P. & T. OFFICIAL’S RETIREMENT POSTAL OFFICIAL FAREWELLED Members of the Hamilton staff of the Post and Telegraph Department held a social evening in St. Peter’s Hall last night to bid farewell to Mr W. Gunn, who has retired on superannuation after 35 years’ service. Mr C. Clark, Chief Postmaster, in asking Mr Gunn to accept a handsome tea service and a safety razor, expressed his thanks for the valuable service Mr Gunn had rendered to the department and wished him many happy years of retirement. Mr Clark’s remarks were supported by Messrs A. C. Clifford and E. H. Tyler. Mr Gunn, in a happy and appropriate speech of thanks, gave amusing reminiscences of his career and spoke of the cordial relations that had existed during his term of service. Mr Gunn joined the Post and Telegraph Department at Invercargill in 1904 and lias been stationed at Oamaru, Taihape, Dannevirke, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Nelson, Wellington, Dunedin, Thames, Nelson, Whangarei, Ngaruawahia and Hamilton.
