HAUTAPU BRIDE

IVORY LACQUERED SATIN The marriage took place recently at St. Peter’s Church, Cambridge, between Thelma Mavis, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs W. R. Laurent, llautapu, and Francis Herbert, third son of Mr and Mrs 11. J. Cassin, of Tauranga. The Rev. Father Eccleston, of Tauranga, assisted by the Rev. Father Sheely, performed the ceremony. During the service Miss Jean McLeod sang. The bride, who w r as given away by her father, wore a close-fltting gown of ivory lacquered slipper satin, featuring a bustle. The moulded bodice, which was designed with a square neckline, formed a deep point at the centre front, and the long sweeping flared skirt finished in a long train. Her tulle veil fell from a coronet of orange blossoms. Cream camellias and freesias, with maidenhair fern, comprised her bouquet. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a decorated horseshoe by Miss Vivien Thompson. The Attendants Mrs Robert Goodlette, as matron of honour, and Miss Nell Reese, as bridesmaid, were frocked alike in aquamarine mousseJine over hooped taffeta underslips. Puff sleeves set off the closelitting bodices which were designed with square necklines. Three graduated hands of taffeta ornamented the very full skirts. Large picture hats of natural straw, trimmed with matching ribbons and a spray of rhododendrons, were worn and they carried oblong baskets of natural straw, filled with rhododendrons. Miss Y'vonne Laurent, sister of the bride, wore a full-length frock similar to that of the bridesmaid. The high neckline was finished with narrow ruching and tiny bows ornamented the front of the bodice. She wore a floral top-knot in shades of aquamarine and cyclamen and carried a prayer book with matching ribbons. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Augustine Kerrisk, of Hamiitn, and Mr Bernard Costello, of Wellington, acted as groomsman. The ushers were Messrs A. V. Laurent and A. E. Bacon, of Tauranga. Spring flowers on the tables with large clumps of rhododendrons arranged at intervals around the hall enhanced the Arawa Hall, where the reception was held. At the reception, Mrs S. R. Ellis recited, and Airs Bradaley entertained with songs. Mrs W. R. Laurent received her guests wearing a liand-painted petunia ensemble with a matching hat of knotted sisal straw'. She carried a bouquet of harmonising primulas and freesias. Mrs H. J. Cassin wore , a steel-grey w-orsted suit with navy accessories and she carried a posy of spring flowers. When Mr and Mrs F. H.
