Miss L B. Rich has taken up her duties at the Hinuera school. Miss L. Dawson, Hinuera, has returned from a short visit to Taranaki. Mrs J. Eves, of Blenheim, is the guest of her sister, Mrs A. Rowe, Hinuera. Miss Betty Higginson, Hamilton, has been visiting her parents at Okoroire Springs. • • • • Mrs Hugh Williams, Auckland, is ■visiting Hamilton during the week-end and is the guest of Mrs A. Fow. • • * • Miss Dorothy Fullerton, Auckland, is visiting Hamilton this week-end and U the guest of Miss Molly Igguldcii. Mrs G. M. Firth, Hamilton, is staying with her mother, Mrs Sidney Thorne George, Remuera, Auckland. Miss Margaret Hewetson and Miss Peggie Iggulden, Hamilton, are spending a few days at the Chateau Tongariro. • • • • Mrs E. Clapham, Auckland, is visiting Hamilton for the Chitty-Clapham wedding, and is the guest of Mrs E. Clapham. • • • * A visitor to Hamilton for the ChittyClapham wedding this morning is Miss Jean Bell, Auckland, who is the guest of Mrs J. T. Hawke. * * • • Mrs A. Howden, Hamilton, who has been spending a holiday in England and on the Continent, has returned to New Zealand, via the United States. Mrs K. West will return during the Week-end from Palmerston North, accompanied by her mother, Mrs H. B. Tucker, who will in future reside with ber in Hamilton. • • • • Mrs H. Rolfe, Hamilton, who returned this week from Te Puke, will leave tomorrow for Auckland and later for Australia and Tasmania where «he will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs C. L. Goldstone. • • • » News has been received from Miss Truda Mayo, of Hamilton, who is at present abroad, that she has recently completed a five weeks’ tour through Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy and Franee. • • • • In appreciation of her interest in the ‘re-union dinner held annually by the Main Body Associaton, Mrs A. J. Swayne, of Cambridge, was presented with a badge and made an honorary member of the association, at a recent function held at Rotorua. The W.C.T.U. conducted a successful Band of Hope in St. James’ schoolroom. Mrs Bartlett presided and gave a short temperance talk, and Items were given by Shirley Collins, Doreen Haynes, Madeline Nelson and Coral Haynes. Mrs Paley was at the piano. • • • • The appeal for funds made by the Plunket Society yesterday when a Flower Day was held, was met with generous response. £BO 5s being collected. £45 of this was produced
from the sale of buttonholes made by the Gardening Circle of the Lyceum Club and sold by a willing troupe of girls. • • • • An enjoyable afternoon was given to the members of the Old Men’s Home by St. Paul’s Methodist Ladies’ Guild, when afternoon tea was served and items were given by Mrs M. Arthur, Mrs G. H. Wheeler, Miss McKenzie and Mrs G. Bradley, followed by community singing. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the organisers. * * • • The official farewell given by the nursing staff, to Miss D. Buchanan, former tutor sister of the Waikato Hospital who has taken up the position of Lady Superintendent at the Southland Hospital, Invercargill, was in the form of a “hard-up” fancy dress evening. Miss Buchanan was the recipient of a handsome silver tea service and tray, which was presented to her by Miss D. Menzies on behalf of the medical and nursing staff of the Waikato Hospital, with their best wishes. OKOROIRE Mrs Clark, Okoroire Springs, has been visiting Cambridge. 0 • * m Mrs B. McKenzie has left Tirau and will reside in Otorohanga. Mrs J. F. Batley has returned to Tirau from a holiday in Auckland. Mrs Waugh, sen., Auckland, has been the guest of Mrs Reg. Waugh. Miss Dorothy Graham, of Okoroire Springs, was a recent visitor to Auckland. Miss A. Petersen has returned home after spending her annual vacation in Auckland. 0 • • • Mrs Black has returned to Auckland after spending a holiday in Okoroire where she was the guest of Mrs J. McLaren. CAMBRIDGE Mrs S. Haines was a week-end visitor to Rotorua. • • m m Miss Joan Ross was a week-end visitor to the Chateau. Mrs H. L. Nixon has been spending a brief holiday in Auckland. Mrs J. Hanna, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs R. S. Hanna, Leamington. Mrs C. M. G. Nicholson and Miss Corlett have returned to Cambridge after a visit to Australia. • • • • Mrs W. McK.
