EXCITING SCENES
SMOKE IN THEATRE SENSATION IN SYDNEY crimed Press. Assn.—Elec. Tei. copyright (Received Sept. 22, 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 22 There were exciting scenes in the Central Theatre, George Street, tonight, when smoke poured into the theatre from a fire in the Crystal Pajace Arcade, which adjoins the theatre. The patrons were advised by a warning on the screen and were asked to file out orderly and smartly, and there were no signs of panic. Firemen later rescued the operator, who was hanging from an upper storey window, and two people who were overcome by the smoke. The theatre was not badly damaged.
