RIVAL GANGSTERS
NAZIB AND COMMUNISTS MR CHURCHILL’S INDICTMENT “SHOOTING THEIR WAY OUT” (United Press Assn.-—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 22, 3.10 p.m.) NEW.YORK, Sept. 21 Mr Winston Churchill has written an article in Collier’s Magazine called “The Soviet-Nazi Pact—A Grand Advantage to Mankind.” • “The pact stripped by a single stroke Russian Communism and Nazi anti-Gommunism of their whole theme, their credentials, their means of - appealing to the mind and spirit of men,” said Mr Churchill. “Instead of two powerful and two certain types of mind-captivating philosophies we have a couple of sets of rival gangsters joining forces, pooling their luck, and trying to shoot their way out with any loot they can carry through the G-Men of civilisation.” BRITAIN AND FRANCE WILL NEVER BE DIVIDED CONFIDENCE OF M. DALADIER FIGHTING IN COMMON CAUSE .United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 22, 12.40 p.m.) PARIS, Sept. 21 “German propaganda will never separate England and France,” declared M. Daladier, Prime Minister, in a nation-wide broadcast. “Frenchmen will not be duped. The whole country has risen indignantly to oppose such clumsy attempts. There are do traitors in France, only courageous soldiers. “We know Britain’s faith from past experience. Her planes are fighting on our side, her sons are fighting in our trenches. Hundreds of millions of people in the British Empire are working in the common cause. “Show your contempt of German propaganda by ignoring it. I have visited the front and seen our soldiers fighting bravely. We are not afraid of a long war, and firmly believe that ■we will conquer the enemy.” He added: “Despite the efforts of England, America and Italy the destruction of Poland was planned beforehand, and even now Russia and Germany are ruthlessly dividing a 'loving country. Poland has suffered terribly in her martyrdom and has displayed great heroism in her defeat. “A secret treaty encouraged Russia to attack when Poland had succeeded in holding‘up the first blow. Her dismemberment was planned beforehand, while Hitler pretended that his demands were limited to the Corridor and a few motor roads. Hitler’s Broken Promises M. Daladier said: “Who now believes in Hitler’s peaceful intentions, when he has just proved his violence and ruthlessness? This is his war.” M. Daladier then quoted a long list of treaties which Germany has torn up. adding: “Hitler says that he asks nothing from France, but Frenchmen know that he will not fail to try to destroy France, like Austria and Czechoslovakia. France will never allow domination bv force and will never allow her soldiers to burn towns and kill women and children.”
