OKOROIRE NEWS
HALL COMMITTEE DANCE Twisted streamers in rainbow shades, suspended over the dance floor formed an attractive setting for the many who attended the dance of the hall committee in the Okoroire Hall recently. Always a popular event, the dance was most successful, bright music contributing to the enjoyment of the guests. Visitors were present from Matamata, Tirau and Putaruru. During the evening novelty dances proved popular, Miss Nancy Parker and partner and Miss May Cairns and Mr C. Trotter being the winners. Among those present were :—Mesdaines T. Cotter, cherry matalasse; M. Clarke, old rose taffeta and black net; A. Milne, black taffeta; 11. Bellamy, rust cloque moire. Many Colourful Frocks Misses Betty Parker, shell pink satin and pink floral bolero; May Cairns, apple green marocain; Jean Butler (Tirau), Burgundy cotelle; Nancy Parker, rose taffeta and lace; Coral Towler (Tirau), gypsy patterned cloque; Eve Bellamy, floral marquisette; Madge Carruth, Oriental Paisley cloque; Iris Towler (Tirau), flowered crepe; Audrey Wiss, apricot satin; Lena Coombes (Matamata), mauve shot taffeta; Merle Collett, reseda green cloque; Joyce Houghton (Tirau), dahlia cloque moire; L. Lyndon, mauve organdi and white cloak; Meg Ross-Barclav, cherry red taffeta; Rona Harwood, lemon marquisette; Ivy Brier, blue dimity and black coatee; Andrea Petersen, blue Hungarian silk; June Laren, bottle green matalasse; Valerie Gubb, apple green coinspot net; Phyllis Barker, clover cire taffeta; I. Findlay (Te Poi), biscuit coloured crepe.
