EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS
CENTRAL OOMMITTEE MEETS PROGRESS REPORTS RECEIVED Reports on the progress made by the various committees 6et up to undertake the onganisation of the public services of Hamilton in the event of an emergency were presented this morning in the Borough Chambers, when a meeting of Lhe Hamilton Central Precautions Committee was held. The central committee consists of the Borough Council emergency committee and Lhe chairmen of the individual committees, each of whom stated that a considerable amount of ground work had been done in the last week and that the organisations were well under w’ay. The Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, presided over the meeting and also present were Messrs C. B. Smith (supply committee). F. W. Luxford (transport >, F. Findlay, chairman of the Waikato Hospital Board (medical and public health), C. W. Lopdell, inspector of police (law and order), T. G. Reynolds (public utilities), C. Clark, chief postmaster (communications), H. M. Ham-
mond (works and water), A. Craig (fire.. W. H. Paul (accommodation, billeting, etc.), A. E. Manning (pub-
licity and information), A. St. C. Belcher (finance and records), J. R. Fow (a member of the borough council’s emergency committee), G. H. Lambert (senior-sergeant of police), W. L. Waddel (town clerk) and E. E. Rex (chief clerk). Further reports will be received from tbe individual committees at another meeting of the central committee next Wednesday.
