LONG LIST OF CASES
COURT OF ARBITRATION POSSIBILITY OF DIVISION (Special to Time*) AUCKLAND, Tuesday An indication that there might be a division of the functions of the Arbitration Court during the present session of Parliament was given by the president of the Court, Mr Justice O’Regan, when the Court resumed in Auckland yesterday after an absence, since last November. Associated with His Honour were Mr A. L.'Monteith, for the unions, and Mr W. Cecil Prime for the employers. “We propose to make fixtures,” said His Honour, when fixtures were being applied for, “only until October 19. Here we are faced with a formidable list of 22 industrial disputes and 51 compensation claims, and we do not know whether during fhe present session the functions of the Court are to be voided. “Certainly if that is not done the work is going to be in arrear again. We propose to make fixtures until October 19, and then we will reconsider the matter.” A complete agreement in the Dominion shearers and shed hands’ dispute was reported to the Court by the Hon. F. E. Lark on behalf of the uniDn. The Court agreed to make the agreement inlo an award, it being understood that the form of the preference clause was left to the Court. Complete agreements were also reported in the Dominion drovers and South Island musterers, packers and snow rakers’ dispute, and in the Northern laundry workers’ dispute, in which, however, the term of the. award remains to be fixed. At the close of the sitting the Court had made fixtures for industrial disputes and compensation claims fully occupying it until October 26, and His Honour announced that the Court would make its next series of fixtures on October 20.
