500 MILES OF FRONTIER ’ 4,500,000 MEN INVOLVED PENETRATION INTO POLAND (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 18. 12.10 p.m.) MOSCOW, Sept. 17 The first reports indicate the Russian occupation of almost the entire length of frontier, approximately 500 miles, from Polosk to Manenez Podolsk as the German motorised units reached within 100 miles of the Soviet border. The Soviet has mobilised further classes, making its strength nearly 4,500,000 men. NEW YORK, Sept. 17 The Cernauti correspondent of the United Press states that infantry, with monster tanks, which formed a spearhead, advanced in Southern Poland without resistance and penetrated 37 miles at some points.
