BRIGADE INSPECTION
ST. JOHN AMBULANCE TO -MORROW'S DEM O NSTRATION Demonstrating the degree of efficiency that can be reached by constant training, the annual brigade inspection of the Waikato Division of the St. John Ambulance Association will be held at Seddon Park to-mor-row at 2 p.m. The inspection of the brigade will be carried out by District Superintendent H. D. Gobb and District Officer E. A. Houston, and will include a spectacular parade and march past. The varied activities of the St. John Ambulance Association will be demonstrated in the display, which will igiv© the public an indication of the way in which the members of the association work in emergencies. Of particularly topical interest will be the demonstration of modern air raid precautions technique. The Hamilton Citizens’ Band and the Hamilton Caledonian Pipe Band will be in attendance. A*R RAID AND A.R.P. After the inspection a mock air raid will be staged. Arrangements have been made for an aeroplane to fly over the ground and dummy bombs will be exploded. The raid will be carried out under full war time conditions and all units of the Waikato Corps will be called upon to carry out their various duties. Boy Scouts will act as “casualties,’ first aid and stretcher squads will give these immediate attention and an emergency dressing station will be erected. The Nursing Division will be called upon to care for the “injured” in the dressing station and an ambulance will be called to remove the “serious cases” to the hospital. Other officers of the corps will be in charge of the maintaining of order and the recording of the names and addresses of the “injured.” Arrangements have been made for several first aid kits as used by the various sections of the corps to be on display and an officer will be placed in charge of these for the purpose of giving the public any information required. Though the display is primarily intended as a full dress rehearsal of the duties to be carried out by the Waikato Corps in the event of an emergency, the public are invited to attend and make themselves acquainted with air raid precaution work. A public address system will be installed. At a later date it is proposed to stage further displays, at which gas drill and de-contamination will be demonstrated.
