EXCHANGE OF LAND
DOMAIN BOARD AND COUNCIL AUTHORISING LEGISLATION (by Telegram)—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Friday The exchange of part of the Hamilton Domain Board's land for certain land vested in the Hamilton Borough Council is provided for in a clause in the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day. An explanatory memorandum to the Bill states that the part of the domain property concerned is in Clarence Street, Hamilton, and is intersected by a deep gully throughout its entire length and is unsuitable for a domain or any other purpose in its present state. The council proposes to pipe the gully at a cost of £350 and to fill in the section and an adjoining area of the domain. The adjoining domain land will be improved and a small section availably for letting will be added to the domain as a result of the exchange. The lands to be exchanged are of approximately equal value. This clause accordingly authorises the exchange, and brings the land being acquired by the -Domain Board which is in Mary Street, off Killarney Road, Frankton, under -section 2 of the Hamilton Domains Act, 1911, thereby enabling the area to be leased under the provisions of the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, as it is too small for recreation or grazing purposes.
