OBITUARY
MR ERNEBT A. DUNCAN (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Friday The death has occurred at his residence, Pukeroro, of Mr Ernest Alexander Duncan, a well-known farmer of the district, aged 45 years. Mr Duncan came to the Waikato from Ireland as a youth, and for many years was associated with various farm lands, which were considerably Improved as a result of his efforts. His own farm at Pukeroro was excellently developed and was an example of high dairy production. He was a keen judge of horses and was a prominent vendor at most of the leading horse fairs.
With his father, Mr William D. Duncan, and four brothers, Mr Duncan arrived in New Zealand from Omagh, Tyrone, Ireland, in 1909. He attended the Terrace School, Wellington, for some time, and later joined his father and brothers who were farming at Hautapu. With the exception of the time spent on active service in Mesopotamia and France during the Great War, Mr Duncan farmed at Eureka, Roto-o-rangi and Pukeroro. In 1924 he visited his home in Ireland, where he married Miss M. Smyth. He is survived by his wife and three brothers, Messrs W. F. Duncan (Pukeroro), H. S. Duncan (Bruntwood) and A. J. Duncan (Hautapu). MR ROBERT HUNTER (By Telegraph.—Pr?<? association) NELSON, Friday The death has occurred of Mr Robert Hunter, a well-known Nelson citizen, aged 82. He was a pupil of Mr Matthew Campbell’s school, the first school established in Nelson, and later was educated at Nelson college. He was a Meutenant in the Old Nelson Navals, patron of the Defence Rifle Club, and was interested in both the jockey and trotting clubs. He is survived'by four sons and one daughter.
