TE AROHA NOTES
METHODIST LADIES’ GUILD There was a large attendance of Methodist Guild members and friends at a social afternoon in Wesley Hall. Te Aroha, recently, when many gifts were received for the bathroom stall at the forthcoming bazaar. Items were contributed by Mrs J. L. Otter (vocal solos), Miss Joyce Billing (pianoforte solos), Miss Bonnie Billing (violin solos) and Miss Winifred Shannon (pianoforte solos). The winner of a competition was Mrs Ron Eastwood. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Brooks, Forbes and Billing. At the close of the function, Mrs Brooks expressed her thanks to the artists and to all present for their gifts. CARD TOURNAMENT The weekly five hundred card tournament held at the Tisdale Social Rooms, Waihou, resulted as follows: Men, Mr A. G. Hill 1, Mr M. Farry 2; women, Mrs N. Rigden 1, Mrs W. Die ken 2. Following the tournament supper was served by members of the committee. Messrs G. Swney anti W. Gornes controlled the play. PLUNKET SOCIETY Mrs F. W. Wild presided at the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society. It was decided to close the voting on the baby's photographic exhibition on Friday, September 29. Nurse Thompson’s report for July and August was as follows:—July, new cases 4, home visits 7, visits to rooms, adults 207, babies 177, children 5. August, new cases 7, home visits 4, visits to rooms, adults 190, babies 190, children 5.
