DOMINION TOURNEY TIE FOR DISTRICT SHIELD GREY MOUTH HEAVY-WEIGHT WINS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Thursday The finals of the New Zealand amateur boxing championships, which were fought to-night, were not of such a high standard as the semi-finals last night. However, there were several bright bouts. The Jamieson Belt for the most scientific boxer, was awarded to T. Dunn. Hutl Valley, Taranaki and Southland drew for the Earl Stewart Shield, for which the points were: Taranaki, 20; Southland, 20; Ashburton, Greymouth, Hutt Valley, Auckland, 15; Gisborne, 10; Wellington, 10. Fly-weight.—Final: B. Maddern (Taranaki; beat T. Hoggarth (Greymouth) on points. Bantam-weight.—Final: H. Foote (Wellington) beat J. Jenkins (Auckland) on points. Feather-weight.—Semi-finals: A. Byrne (Hutt Valley) beat M. Parr ( Otago; on points; G. Thomas (Taranaki) beat L. Pennington (Auckland) on points. Final: G. Thomas (Taranaki) beat A. Byrne (Hutt Valley) on points.
