GUN CLUB’B SMOOT (Special to Times) OTOnon.VNOV Thursday The otornhaiKra Gun Club's Shoot on tho Island Reserve drew spectators * n <l competitors from Hamilton, Cambridge. Te Awamutu. Ohanpo. kawhia and Te Kuill. Tin* principal event was Tor a duel chime clock and smoker s stand. There were 17 entries in this 15 bird shoot. The following shot the possible. Murray Pratt ( ?Oyds >, A. Webster M6vds). j. Wiske tfSyds). T. Hall (13yds), 0. La wan (13 yds). if. w. Carter (12yds). In the shoot-ofr. carter won from Webster on the 2-Mil bird. In the i?-Mrd trophy match there were ac-ain t 7 shooter*. r>. Mitchell (Ohaupo). J Wiske, and W. O'kauc 'Hamilton' rettimr the possible. in the shoot-off. J. Wbkc annexed the trophy on the ??nd bird. Fourteen competitors took their place* in the seven bird jrymrrack event. The following shot the possible j. Dob«on (14 to 26yds). 0. Gawan (1? to 24,vd*). \V. Gribhle (12 to 24yds); these divided the sweep. Murray Pratt lost only bla last bird, off 2 0 yards. Pratt won the box shoot off 2« yards (4s? shooters). In a following box shoot there were seven entrants. F. Gox and J Dobson broke five b’rds to take the sweep money. P. Mitchell won the third box shoot. There were 18 entries Tor the six-bird event, and the following shot the pos-sible:—-J. Wiske. p. Kane, \v. Seymour. Cribble, p. Mitchell and T Hall (J. Wiske broke out of a possible 50). The sweep was divided. AUGUBT RAINFALL Turing Atiffu-t rain fell at Otorohanr* on 22 davs. ihe heaviest fall being on August 17. when .7 4 inches were recorded. The total tujrijst fall was #i.«?ln. compared with 6.3in on 15 days during August, 1238. Ten frosts were recorded.
