THE WEST FRONT

SUCCESS OF FRENCH SUPREMACY IN THE SKIES CONFIDENT OF VICTORY United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 14, 3.15 p.m.) PARIS, Sept. 13 Tonight's war communique states: “Our troops have improved the whole of the positions taken during the last few days. The naval forces are taking vigorous action against submarines. Our air force activity has been reduced owing to bad weather.” This confirms further substantial progress of the French pincer movement on the western front from the west and east of Saarbrucken. An earlier French Staff communique said: “In the first major aerial battle our supremacy on the western skies was reported. It continued throughout the day hut slackened off at nightfall.” Allies' Resolution M. Daladier said the meeting of the Supreme War Council has convinced him that the Allies were endowed with unshakeable resolution to conduct the war to the final victory. There would be no defection in the struggle against Germany.
